A Date with Poppy

My Dad ("Poppy") came down to visit for a few days this past week. MC loved it! She's really starting to try new things, especially food. Finally. She's definitely making baby steps in progress. I'm excited because meal time is not a war lately.

She has new words that are oh so precious. For over a week, I've heard "ack." I had no idea and kept asking her to show me or point to 'ack'. I was checking Carly's blog, and from behind my chair, she said "JACK!" Then Nana (Matt's mom) keeps her up to date with their family dog, Oscar. "ocar" is now a commonly used name for all dogs. Even Koda is "ocar." She sees a camera, and says "eeeesse!" And my niece, Kennedy, is called "inny or kenny." So sweet. I wish I could just freeze time and never let her grow up. She wanted to sit in Poppy's lap (while wearing her hat) and reminisce of her first year of life. She was in amazement and kept saying "wow!" and "oh!" pointing to pictures. It was so funny we had to take a picture:

Welcome tooth #15! Finally. The other should be here in the next few days! I mentioned on Facebook, that I could never be a kindergarten teacher. I kept the 2 year olds in the nursery this past Sunday. ELEVEN two-year olds (only 2 of which were girls)! It was an experience different than the 3/4 year olds. And a BIG reminder to use birth control! ha! Matt reminds me that if we have another child, they won't both be 2 years old at the same time. My sister says I "missed the window" and now I'm just too comfortable.

I've been toying with the idea of chopping my hair. Matt of course does NOT like my hair short. Period. He says I won't like it and that I won't be able to 'carry it off' (probably b/c I don't like "fixing" it. If it involves hairspray, forget it. No time. This coming from someone who turned down money to grow his fro out. What do you think? I am such a chicken. This is the picture that caught my attention (Katie Holmes on the left of each):
Tom Cruise is okay with it! :) hahahahaha!

Bubbles

Oh Pilates! Our instructor has decided to step it up a notch or two this week and we progressed to the BALLS! Oh my goodness. I totally embarrassed myself yesterday and fell off the ball TWICE! The entire class was laughing at me...with me. How is it that I took ballet for 15 years but you wouldn't know it now? I have no balance anymore. How is it that the 60 year olds performed like they use them everyday?? Then they didn't tell me to get one of the "ball holders." So my ball was rolling all over the room and I had to get up off the floor to go get it. Embarrassing! I wish my teacher would just keep us in a bubble and let me think that what we were doing before the balls was hard. This is what I'm SUPPOSED to look like on top of a bubble.

I decided to keep MC in a bubble this week. We didn't go to church Sunday because I wanted to keep her out of the nursery and away from any flu virus floating around. We haven't really graced the public this week either. She's been fussy from teething. Here we go again. It's her last and bottom set of eye teeth. I will be SO glad when these come in.

Matt and I have been discussing where we should go this summer for our 5 year anniversary? I would like a beach somewhere in the Caribbean. Due to our babysitter...aka Gigi...being in Tennessee, our choices are limited to somewhere closer to home...and most likely not a beach. Maybe Nashville? Charleston? Any suggestions?

Happy Valentine's Day

Well I thought today would be picture perfect. The weather has not cleared (not enough for me at least) and MC woke up in a terrible mood. Now she won't take a nap. She slept for about 40 minutes. Nonetheless, I'm trying to make it the best Valentines Day MC has ever had! Ha! Her Daddy greeted her this morning with a tiny rose bush and a card. A stranger in Kroger gave her a balloon that she keeps getting in disagreements with. Sam and Sarah came over to play this morning. They were all passing out free hugs and kisses. So cute. I made them miniature heart cupcakes and found old party favors to give them. I thought they turned out well...everything was picture perfect actually:

It's Friday the 13th

and I've created a monster! Look at MC talking on the real telephone while watching TV. She's such a girl! Her conversations consist of "hello...okay bye!"

Call me superstitious (sp?) but bad things do tend to happen to our family on Friday the 13th. So we're staying in - also because I don't like going anywhere when it rains. Our cat died on Fri the 13th a long time ago...he was the Devil himself tho...hmmmm...weird. My sister and I both broke our arms around April Fools Day. I'm very accident prone so there's no reason to chance it.

Here's wishing everyone a good V-Day Eve:

Do you know what day it is?

Puffs anyone? "uh-oh"

Do you know what day it is? Do you know what time it is? Don't ask Matt these questions because he can't tell you. Let me back up. Mati Claire has been sleeping a little late the last 3 days and I've had to wake her up at 8 am. She still has a normal schedule the rest of the day: naps around 12-2 and goes to bed around 7:30 pm.

This morning Matt came in around 7:45 am and went straight to bed; which is unusual because he normally goes to bed around 10-ish when he works nights. I made a huge breakfast casserole that was ready by 8:30, contacted FedEx to schedule a pickup, gave MC a bath and washed her hair twice (explain later), walked the dog, worked out at the Healthplex, came home and fed MC lunch and put her down for a nap! So I rushed to the bathroom to get me a shower since I haven't had one since Sunday morning....(to answer the question, yes it is Wednesday). I wasn't in there 5 minutes, when Matt asks me "did you walk the dog? is it time to wake her up?" Did I hear that correctly or did I get water in my ears? I just kept staring at him. Are you serious? Do you know what time it is? It's 12:30....PM! I told him I might have to kill him if he woke her up. Afterall, she's only been asleep about 10 minutes. And yes, I walked the dog at 9:00 this morning...she can't hold it for 24 hours. I get out of the shower, and he asks me where the casserole is. It's in the GARBAGE! To me, eggs and soggy bread aren't good as leftovers. So there was 1 serving missing out of a 9x13 dish and the rest is in the garbage. I told him he could dig it out if he wanted to. Then he asks me "who won the game?" It's Wednesday, Matt! They don't play until tonight. Ahhh! Go back to bed please!

Backing up again. I let her hair soak overnight in mineral oil to scrub the cradle cap out this morning (thanks pig-tails for showing me this). Its makes it so easy to get out...just a pain to get the oil out now. Here's a cute picture of my nieces! This is why I have to have another girl one day! How cute are they?

So it's Wednesday and we're looking forward to Saturday! Reservations? check. Babysitter? check. New dress? check. Lovey-dovey music for the car? check. Hot date? wait...he's asleep!
Guys, do you know what day Saturday is?

Weekend of Firsts

What a fun weekend! Mati Claire has been in the best mood the last few days and it has just been wonderful! That alone makes for a great weekend. We went to her friend Sam's 3rd birthday party Saturday. I called it our first successful birthday party. She DOVE into her first cupcake and barely got her hands dirty! Such a lady ;) Then she played on the playground and loved the slide (another first). Last summer, she just wasn't quite big enough and hadn't mastered the stairs to get to the slide. Or it was just too hot. I am SO looking forward to this summer and her next birthday party! Here are a few pictures of her first pig-tails too.

After the party, we all went to Jerry's to eat some "shish" (fish)! She ate 2 fried pickles! If only I had my camera then. Another first! I got to enjoy a girl's afternoon at Sarah's baby shower today. And we couldn't ask for more beautiful weather. Of course I broke a sweat chasing after our dog that got loose for the first time. Luckily our neighbor was able to catch her! Quoting a friend, we had a very full-cup weekend. Not much else going on...pictures speak for themselves!

Superbowl Party

Last Sunday we hosted the Superbowl party for our Sunday School class. The guys disappeared upstairs while all the women sat around, chatted, and enjoyed good food! What fun it is to hang out with other girls with just a few kids! (Don't get me wrong, I loved having Murphy, Walker, Callee, Caden, and Caitlyn around!) Mati Claire came home for the last 5 minutes of the game and got to play with Caitlyn. They were so cute playing with their 3D glasses!

4 days without internet is like the world came to an end! So glad to have it back. I have learned what "restarting the router" means! I feel like I'm back in the land of the living now. Pretty sad I know. Is anyone else attached to their computer like I am? Although I'm not alone...I caught a certain husband blog browsing last night!
